Northeastern Utah

Northeastern Utah is a region which includes the counties of Dagget, Duchesne, Carbon, Emery, Uintah, and the eastern half of Summit county (east of longitude 111W).

  • 🌍 Vernal the region's second largest town, located in the far northeast of the state, and near Dinosaur National Monument and Ashley National Forest

  • The 🌍 Uinta Mountains peaks above 13,000 ft, most notably at 🌍 King's Peak , the tallest mountain in Utah, at a staggering 13,528 feet. Here you will also find the world's highest altitude long-distance hiking trail, completely above 11,000 ft, through the Ashley and Wasatch-Cache National Forests.
  • 🌍 Uinta National Forest a bit further off the beaten path for more wilderness backpacking for the adventurous, mountain biking trails, some unusual geological features, and backcountry skiing
