Mudanya
Understand
Mudanya is a pleasant town that has started to re-gain its role as a transportation hub for travellers between Istanbul and Bursa thanks to the seabus services. Until the 1950s when the Mudanya–Bursa railway line was decommisioned, it also held a similar position as the northern terminus of that line.
In Turkey, Mudanya is also famous as the site of the signing of the Mudanya Armistice (1922) which concluded the fight between the Greeks that invaded much of western Turkey and the Turks, known in Turkey as the War of Independence (1919–1922).
Get in
The easiest approach from the north (Istanbul) is to take the BUDO seabuses run by the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, departing every two hours from their dedicated pier in Kabataş (at the lower end of the F1 funicular line of the Istanbul Metro), taking 1 hr 45 min, and costing 25 TL per passenger. They drop you off in 🌍 a very central location on the Mudanya seafront. From the south (Bursa), take the very frequent 1/M urban bus line from the Emek station (the northern terminus of the local light rail system, Bursaray), which also lets you off at the central square in front of the seabus harbour, for 3 TL, 25 min. The central Şehreküstü station in Bursa is another 25 min away from Emek.
Mudanya is well connected by highways with the neighbouring towns and cities, including Bursa (D-575/E881) and Gemlik (16-80).
