  • 🌍 High Force (via B6277). April-Oct 10:00-17:00, Nov-March 10:00-16:00. Impressive waterfall, where the River Tees plunges 71 feet over Whin Sill, the layer of hard rock that elsewhere underpins Hadrian's Wall. A mile downstream is its junior brother, the 18 foot Low Force.
    Details here are for the usual north bank access by road. On foot along the south bank path, you can see it anytime for free.

  • 🌍 Kirkcarrion (Off B6276). This tumulus is believed to be a Bronze Age burial site. It's nowadays topped by a copse of pine trees.
