Meulaboh

Meulaboh is a remote city in the province of Aceh in Indonesia. It is located on the western Indian Ocean coast of Sumatra island, about 175 km southeast of the provincial capital Banda Aceh. Meulaboh is among the hardest hit areas by the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake.

Meulaboh's tiny Cut Nyak Dien Airport (MEQ  IATA) is about 20 km south of the town. The airport is named after a local heroine who fought against the Dutch colonists during Indonesia's struggle for independence. The airport serves a few daily scheduled flights to and from Medan.
