Maale Adumim is an Israeli settlement in the West Bank, east of Jerusalem. It has about 37,000 residents.

There are numerous buses from Jerusalem, most with numbers between 121-129 or 171-179.

If driving, be careful on the freeway downhill from Jerusalem. It's very steep!

See

  • 🌍 Monastery of Martyrius (Buses 173 and 174, among others, stop here), +972 2 633-8230. The ruins of an important monastery from the Byzantine period, including some nice, well-preserved mosaics. It was excavated in the 1980s, and now sits in the middle of a residential neighborhood. It is fenced off, and you have to call ahead of time to arrange entry.

There's not much to do. It's a quiet residential suburb.
