- 🌍 Sitting Bull Falls (from US285 north of Carlsbad, turn west onto NM137 for about 20 miles to County Road 409. Turn right and continue to the end.), ☎ +1 575 434-7200, e-mail: Lincoln_General_Comments@fs.fed.us. 9AM-5PM. one of the area's largest and most beautiful waterfalls. Sitting Bull Falls is flowing most of the year. There is a small New Mexico state park with picnic sites. $5 per vehicle.

Be sure to carry plenty of water during the summer. Many of the trails tend to be very steep and poorly kept, so wear sturdy hiking boots. In addition, since the climate in the park can vary significantly based on altitude, visitors should dress in layers so that they are able to adapt to the changes in temperature.
