Alice Springs is a good starting point.
Stay safe
It is recommended to attempt this trail during the (Australian) winter months of June to August.
Dangers include Dehydration, Hyperthermia and Hypothermia. The trail is well marked; however people have died by taking a wrong turn during summer months.
Venomous snakes are also a danger, although as long as you avoid walking through long grass and picking up rocks you will not likely encounter any.
