Khargone

Khargone is a city in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Located along the Kunda river, it's known for its many temples and for its large production of chili peppers and cotton. The city is home to some 110.000 people, but growing fast.

Get in

Khargone is 140 km or a roughly 2,5 hours direct drive from Indore, the state capital. Note that buses will take longer. Indore is also where you'll find the nearest major airport. The nearest train station is in Khandwa, some 90km east of Khargone. From there, you can catch a bus (~2h) to Khargone.

Get around

See

Khargone (including the villages that have been merged into this fast growing city) is famously home to many temples. It is said that there are even a hundred temples in the wider Khargone area. The most notable one in town is the Navgraha Mandir, an old temple devoted to the nine major planets in Hindu astronomy.
