Julian Alps

The Julian Alps are a region of Slovenia. They are part of The Alps and extend over the border into north-eastern Italy. They were named after Julius Caesar. They offer a wonderful alpine flair, that would have you swear you were in Upper Bavaria or Tyrol on a good day's hiking.

Slovene is the national language. Most can speak Serbo-Croatian as a result to the Yugoslav experience (its also very similar) and many to most young people some English and or German. German also played a historic minority role in the region prior to WWII with many places having dual place names as a result. Today the Austrian and German tourists speak it.
