Jining (Inner Mongolia)

Jining (集宁; Jíníng) is in Inner Mongolia. It was formerly an independent city but is now administered as part of Ulanqab Prefecture; it is the main urban area there.

Jining is a railway hub; trains come in from Erenhot to the north, Hohhot and Baotou to the west, and the mining city Datong to the south. The Trans-Mongolian branch of the Trans-Siberian railway passes through the city.
