Get in

By train

Isesaki is a stop on the JR Ryomo Line, and is the terminating station on the Tobu Isesaki Line.

From Tokyo, Tobu trains depart from Asakusa Station. The fastest ride on Tobu is to take the all-reserved Ryomo limited express train, changing at Ota station to a local service for the run to Isesaki. With a good connection the trip takes approximately two hours and costs ¥2160. Taking regular Tobu commuter services decreases the fare to ¥1160, but increases the trip to approximately three hours and requires more station transfers.

Using JR, commuter trains from Ueno station take approximately 2 1/2 hours at a cost of ¥2210. Take the JR Takasaki Line and change at Takasaki to the JR Ryomo Line. It is also possible to use the Joetsu or Nagano Shinkansen from Tokyo to Takasaki and then change to the Ryomo Line; this takes about 1 hour 50 minutes at a cost of ¥4900. JR trips are fully covered if you have a Japan Rail Pass or JR East Rail Pass.

By bus

JR Bus Kanto operates a daytime bus service from Shinjuku Station in Tokyo, with multiple departures every day (2 hours, ¥1500).

About one kilometer away from Isesaki station is the Machikado Station Hirose, Isesaki's major highway bus stop. Nippon Chuo Bus runs a daily nighttime bus service from Kyoto and Osaka, and another from Sendai, stopping here.

gollark: Yes, a valid picture-y image file which can also be booted from.
gollark: You could make a *zip* file which is both bootable and extractable, but that's because of a weird zip quirk.
