Brumadinho

Brumadinho is a city in the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil.

WARNING: On 25 January 2019, an iron ore tailings dam suffered a catastrophic failure. The town and Inhotim Museum have been evacuated, a situation not unlike Mariana in 2015. As of January 30, Inhotim Museum remains shut down and no reopening date has yet been announced.

  • Inhotim, +55 31 3227-0001. Tu-Fr 9:30AM-4:30PM, Sa-Su and holidays 9:30AM-5:30PM. A botanic park and contemporary-art expo that is well-maintained. Great lagoons, grass, all sorts of palm trees and forest. There are galleries and pieces from various contemporary-artists including Cildo Meireles, Adriana Varejão, Miguel Rio Branco and Matthew Barney. There are restaurants and snack bars inside the park (you're not supposed to bring food). The park can be reached by bus from Belo Horizonte - Saritur has a bus that goes directly to the park everyday. Departure from the central rodoviaria at 9:15AM, comes back from the park at 4:30PM. Around R$25 return trip. This is a 2 hours trip. R$20 (R$10 for elders, groups and students).
