Hudiksvall
Hudiksvall, called Hudik by locals, is the largest town in Hälsingland, with a population of 14,850.

This small picturesque town was founded in 1582 as a trading post. Despite loosing out on trade to other coastal towns, ten devastating fires and ransacking by Russian troops in 1721 Hudiksvall have managed to remain an important regional town. During the 18th century it was labeled Glada Hudik (English: Happy Hudik) due to its friendliness and lively social life and the term has stuck since then.

Hudiksvall is just under 300 km from Stockholm and 85 km från Sundsvall along E4 highway.
All SJ express trains between Stockholm, Sundsvall and Umeå calls in Hudiksvall. There are services about every two hours. Also, there are slower, and often cheaper, local services run by X-trafik between Gävle and Sundsvall via Söderhamn. 🌍 Hudiksvall station is located just south of downtown.
There are plenty of regional bus routes, run by X-trafik, that connects with smaller cities across Hälsingland. Some of the more popular routes even sports WiFi. A few long distance buses stops in Hudiksvall, mostly run by Ybuss.
