Hatra

Hatra is a ruin in Northwestern Iraq. It has suffered massive damage at the hands of ISIS, and it is unclear how much of it still exists.

At the time of the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq there was one inn, the Al Hadr Hotel, about 1 km (0.62 mi) from the Hatra ruins. Much has happened since then. Due to Hatra's isolated location, do not assume lodging to be available – the next city of any size may well be 130 km (81 mi) or more away.
