Hanging Rock State Park is a part of the North Carolina State Parks system, and is one of the most visited of the system. Located near the small town of Danbury, the county seat of Stokes County, it is less than an hour and a half drive from major regional cities like Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and Danville, Virginia.

The park itself offers tent and trailer camping facilities, as well as cabins. While reservations for tents and trailer sites must be made at least 24 hours before use begins, tent and trailer camping sites that are not already reserved are available for use on a first-come, first-serve basis, while reservations are required to use the cabins.
