The Cross

Get in

Interstate 40 leads straight into Groom.

Get around

Interstate 40 and Texas Route 40 encircle Groom.

See

Miscelleaneous Route 66 remnants line Main Street.

  • The Cross. This 190 foot cross is visible up to 20 miles away, the second largest cross in the Western Hemisphere.
  • Leaning Water Tower. The water tower, once an actual source of water for the town, is an oft-photographed landmark and appears in many books and articles about Route 66. Nearby is Ralph Britten's truck stop, now boarded up and in disrepair.
