Gerenzano
Gerenzano is a town in the Italian province of Varese, in Lombardy. It's not on the main tourist map and there are no real attractions in town, but there's a hotel and it can serve as a base just outside chaotic Milan. It might also be convenient as a first night stop when arriving at Malpensa and Linate airports, which are only a 20 and 35 minutes drive, respectively.
