In the seventeenth century during an outbreak of bubonic plague, this village took the decision to isolate themselves from the surrounding communities in order to contain the disease.

Get in

The nearest train station is Chesterfield. Take the 66 or 66A bus from there to Eyam.

The 175 bus service connects Eyam to Bakewell three times a day, Monday to Saturday.

The village is small enough for walking.
