Eat

There are several excellent restaurants on Market Street in downtown Corning. The Gaffer is a nice upscale steakhouse. Market Street Brewing Company, The Cellar and Three Birds are also excellent choices.

A long-time favorite among the locals and visitors is Aniello's Pizzeria on Market Street. Although the casual atmosphere of the crowd tends to be young, there is a large presence of middle age and older individuals who continue to swear their allegiance to the restaurant for many years. The restaurant specializes in thin crust, New York style pizza with a unique blend of cheeses and very light on tomato sauce. They also serve hot sausage sandwiches with melted cheese, and more familiar Italian dishes.

The most interesting cuisine can be found at Hand + Foot (69 W Market Street); this place specializes in innovative sandwiches using wonderful ingredients that most people wouldn't think of preparing a sandwich; the high quality of the European style bread alone is worth a visit.

Also there is Chinese, Mexican, Indian and Japanese cuisine restaurants available.

Drink

The Snooty Pig is a good Irish bar with live music on most weekends. Next door to the pub is Market Street Brewing Company, which is a nice little microbrewery. There is also a Wine and Martini Bar - the cellar, also on Market Street. Maley's and The Glory Hole attract a younger crowd, but are fun to play pool and have a good time. There are numerous other bars along Market Street and Bridge Street.

Sleep

  • The Radisson Hotel, East Market Street.
