The main airport for the island is located just outside Virac. Asian Spirit provides flights daily, which last 1 hour and 15 minutes directly to Manila.
There are regular ferries that connect Virac to the port of Tabaco, from where one can take an overnight bus to Manila and to other destinations in Luzon.

The primary mode of transportation in and around Catanduanes is by tricycle, which are motorcycles with an enclosed sidecar for passengers and are prevalent throughout the Philippines. Because the island is relatively unurbanized, many roads, especially those away from the major towns, are unpaved and are subject to wash-outs and mudslides during and after periods of heavy rain.
