  • Mekedatu (a.k.a. Sangama) is a very well known place for people in and around Bangalore. Mekedatu is a Kannada (a south Indian language) name that is composed of meke (goat) and datu (to cross). It is believed that a goat has crossed this narrow valley while it was being chased. Sangama and Mekedatu are actually two different places, but as they are located next to each other, people usually call the area Mekedatu/Sangama.

  • 🌍 Chunchi Falls, about 85km from Bangalore City (By bus from Kempegowda Bus Stand (Majestic) to Kanakapura, from there private bus or shared rickshaw to Chunchi Falls are available. By car take NH 209). A beautiful, remote waterfall that makes for a great day trip. But the roads might be quite bad and it will be best if you bring your own food.
  • Mekedatu (about 98 km south of the city). A place where the waters of the Cauvery River are squeezed through a narrow ravine. There are no restaurants in the area.
