Bandel (Bengali: ব্যান্ডেল), founded by Portuguese settlers, is a gram panchayat in Chinsurah-Mogra block in Chinsurah subdivision of Hooghly district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is under Chinsurah police station. A major junction station of Eastern Railway, it is 40 km from Howrah station. The Howrah–Bardhaman Main line, the Bandel–Naihati line and the Bandel–Katwa line meet here

Bandel (Jn) station is the main station which is connected with Howrah-Burdwan main line.From Howrah Bandel Local, Pandua Local, Bardhaman Local and Katwa Local & Memari Local have stopage at Bandel Station. Bandel is also connected with the Naihati (Jn) Station of Sealdah section by Bandel-Naihati Local. From Bandel St.to the Bandel Basilica(Church) auto rickshaw,mini bus and richshaw is available. It will take ten to fiften minutes.Launch Service is available from Naihati Ferry Ghat to Chinsurah Ferrhy Ghat from 6AM to 10PM. One can even take auto/rickshaws from Hooghly Ghat station.

The Bandel Church is one of the oldest Christian churches in West Bengal, India. It stands as a memorial to the Portuguese settlement in Bengal. Built around 1660, it is dedicated to Nossa Senhora do Rosário, Our Lady of the Rosary. It is one of the most prominent historical churches in West Bengal. The present church and monastery are said to be built in 1660 by Gomez de Soto having the key stone of the old church bearing the date 1599 over the eastern gate of the Monastery. In front of the Church stands a ship's mast which was presented by the captain of a vessel which had encountered a storm in Bay of Bengal and save by the grace of Virgin, the center of attraction. There is the statue of" One lady of Happy Voyage" in the middle of the church. The church has three altars, a small organ & several tomb stones.
