Arrecifes is in the Pampas region of Argentina.

Understand

Arrecifes is a nice city founded in 1730 when the first chapel was built. The present church started to be built in 1815 and was finished in 1819. It is located in the province of Buenos Aires 176 Km. away from the city of Buenos Aires. It is next to the long river of the same name which flows into the Parana river and is very well-known as Motoring National Capital because many famous racing drivers were born there.

Get in

You can get to Arrecifes by bus or car through route 8 from Buenos Aires city and also by 51 and 191 roads if you come from different places in the province of Buenos Aires.

Climate

The weather there is very pleasant all year long although in winter you may have some cold and cloudy days, but generally they last for a short time. Its average temperature varies between 10° and 30° C.

There are many places you can go to visit. The Church San José of the Arrecifes located in the city center opposite to the main square, The Old Ruin Mill of 21 metres tall on the riverside, this construction was made in 1889. It functioned by hydraulic power as a flour factory until 1910 and as Electric Generator until 1922.

The Christ of brotherhood, a monument all carved in wood by the sculptor Luis Sissara. It is 9 Metres tall and is located on a cross of 23 metres- The Museum and Historical Archive of Arrecifes which was created in 1968 with the purpose of keeping elements from the city´s historical heritage. Also six blocks away from the city centre you can see the Municipal Spa Building inaugurated in 1940. There you will enjoy a beautiful landscape surrounded by a leafy wood. On the right bank there are several tables, seats, grills and room for camping.

To eat there are several restaurants and grills where you can savour delicious barbecue, fishes, pasta, locro, etc. The main restaurants are: Sol Restaurant, La Biela, Parrilla Fernandez and Ricardo Gutierrez.
