Build quality

The lens features a minimalist matte-black plastic exterior with a Zeiss badge on the side of the barrel and a rubber focus ring.

It is robust and very compact considering its ultra wide-angle focal length.

Optical quality

The lens is sharp in the center from wide open apertures, but needs stepping down to f/5.6 for corners to catch up.[2]

Chromatic aberrations are well controlled[3] and barrel distortion is visible when not corrected but typical for this kind of wide-angle lens.[4] Also vignetting is visible wide open but is diminished when stepping down.[5]

Resistance to flare is average, with sunstars being produced at f/11.[6]

gollark: Unfortunately, the 64-core Threadripper is so cheap it's out of stock.
gollark: Your build wasn't gamer enough, I fixed it: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/tHDnfP
gollark: I have an EXTREMELY gaming Microsoft keyboard.
gollark: This is not* horribly spammy whatsoever.
gollark: osmarks.net actually had a power failure at night, it seems, so we had problems.
