Yuri Garnaev
Yuri Alexandrovich Garnaev (Russian: Юрий Александрович Гарнаев; 17 December [O.S. 4 December] 1917 – 6 August 1967) was a famous Soviet test pilot of the Gromov Flight Research Institute who died in a helicopter crash while combating wildfires in France.

Biography
Yuri Alexandrovich Garnaev spent his childhood and youth in the town of Balashov, Saratov Oblast, Russia.
He made a series of high-speed (up to 800 km/h) ejection seat test and parachute test jumps in 1951.
Then he started his test pilot career in 1951, working for the LII.
Made numerous series flights by Soviet VTOL program and Yakovlev Yak-36 testing.
Awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union in 1964.
Yuri Garnaev perished in a Mi-6PZh (registration number СССР-06174) helicopter crash in Le Rove, France, while fighting extensive wildfires.
