Yuba Raj Khatiwada
Yuba Raj Khatiwada is a Nepalese politician and the current Minister of Finance of Nepal and Minister of Information and Communications . He previously served two tenures as vice chair of National Planning Commission and as Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, the central bank of Nepal from 2010 to 2015.[1][2] He is the current Spokesperson of Government of Nepal. He also served as senior economist for United Nations on a mission to Sri Lanka for two years between his tenure at the National Planning Commission and Governor of the Central Bank. He recently presented budget for fiscal year 2077/78 which lacks to fulfill the current Covid-19 crisis. The budget is criticized by all sectors.
- Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada has been reappointed as the Finance Minister of the Government of Nepal from 2020-03-04. He has previously held the same position from 2018-02-26 to 2020-03-03.
- He also holds the portfolio of Communication and Information Technology Minister.
- He has remained member of the National Assembly for two years during March 2018-February 2020.
- He has held – twice - the position of the Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission of Nepal during 2015-16 and during 2009-2010.
- He served as the Governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank (Central Bank of Nepal) during 2010-2015.
- He served the UN system for 3 years (2006-2009) as the Senior Economist in the Regional Centre of UNDP for Asia and the Pacific.
- He had served the government as the Member of the National Planning Commission, Government of Nepal from 2002 to 2005.
- He was the Head of the Economic Research Department of the Nepal Rastra Bank from 1999 to 2002, a postgraduate teacher at Tribhuvan University in 1982, and intermittently a visiting faculty member at Tribhuvan University and Kathmandu University from 1992 to 2001.
- He has received his Master’s degrees in Economics and Public Administration from Tribhuvan University in 1981 and 1984 respectively, and a PhD in Monetary Economics from Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi in 1991.
- He has carried out a considerable amount of research and has authored and co-authored a number of books and research papers.
- He is honored with prestigious national awards such as the Suprabal Gorkha Dakshin Bahu (2001), Sukirtimaya Rastra Deep (2013) and Prasiddha Prabal Jana Sewa Shree (2016) conferred by the Right Honorable President of Nepal for his outstanding contribution to the development of Nepal in his different capacities
