Playing career

Kobayashi was born in Saitama on January 27, 1978. In 1999, when he was Komazawa University student, he joined J1 League club Verdy Kawasaki (later Tokyo Verdy). He became a regular player as defensive midfielder from first season. The club won the champions 2004 Emperor's Cup and 2005 Japanese Super Cup. In the same year they got relegated from the J1 League which marked his end in Tokyo. He signed for Omiya Ardija at the start of the 2006 season. As Omiya usually deployed a 4–4–2 formation, he usually played as a central/defensive midfielder. Kobayashi was the key player on the team, and at times the team's captain. However his opportunity to play decreased in 2009. In June 2009, he moved to Kashiwa Reysol. On January 14, 2010 it was announced that Kobayashi had signed for Albirex Niigata.[1] He played many matches until 2011. However he could hardly play in the match in 2012 and he retired end of 2012 season, after a fourteen-year professional career.

gollark: That's not lying.
gollark: Or just *don't tell everyone everything*.
gollark: I, personally, would prefer some people lying to me without me knowing to everyone knowing the full details of my life or something.
gollark: The trouble is that anonymous data often isn't, at least in the sense that it can be correlated back to the original person.
gollark: Well, if there's an off switch and they mention it I suppose *that* would be okay.
