Yashwantrao Thorat

Yashwantrao Thorat (Marathi : यशवंतराव थोरात) also known as 'Thorle Yashwantrao' was a military commander and the main supporter of Sambhaji II of Kolhapur from 1717 to 1719. He had the title of 'Senakhaskhel'. He was 'Jahagirdar' (Baron) in the territory of Warana. Ashta was his chief headquarter on the bank of Krishna river. He brought the territory of Vijapur under his control and expand the province of Sambhaji II of Kolhapur until 1719. For his achievement Sambhaji II gave him Saranjam of Rs.9 lakh in Vijapur territory.

Battle against Mughal commander Padullakhan

Territory of Karad and Miraj was under the Mughal commander Padullakhan until 1717. In 1717, Yashwantrao joined Shahu because there were misunderstanding between Yashwantrao and Sambhaji. At that time Shahu wanted to established his control in Karad and Miraj territory. So Shahu decided to campaign against Padullakhan in 1717. Yashwantrao joined this campaign. He was leading some troops of Shahu. Shahu's troops attacked on military camp of Padullakhan in Karad. At the end of the battle Padullakhan was defeated and he fled to Islampur.
