Yashomati Thakur was appointed AICC secretary for Amravati, Maharashtra, by Congress President Rahul Gandhi. Her appointment is a part of Gandhi's efforts to bring in youth in key positions in the party.[1]

Yashomati Thakur won for the third consecutive time from the Teosa assembly. She was sworn in as Cabinet Minister in Uddhav Thackeray lead Mahavikas Aghadi Government from Congress quota.
