Yarmouth station (Massachusetts)

The former Yarmouth Railroad Station was located on Railroad Avenue in Yarmouth, Massachusetts on Cape Cod. The last station stood on land that is today occupied by a commercial warehouse at 91 Willow Street, Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts.

The original station

The original station was built in the village of Yarmouth Port when the Cape Cod Railroad extended its line from Sandwich to Hyannis in 1854. This station burned to the ground in a spectacular fire on November 17, 1878.[1]

The second station

The Old Colony Railroad built a new station in the Town of Yarmouth in 1878 at the junction where the Hyannis branch turns to the south towards Hyannis and the former main line continued east to Provincetown (services to that town ended, 1938, with a brief revival in 1940). Service from the station to Chatham ended in 1931.[2] This station, shown in the image within this entry, burned down in 1941.[3]

The last station

In 1941 the New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railroad built a new brick station in the same location as the previous station.[3] Until 1958, it served the Night Cape Codder. It served daily trains to Boston until 1959. And it served the Day Cape Codder and Neptune until 1964.

This station was torn down around 1975 to make room for the Christmas Tree Shops' first warehouse.[4]

gollark: This is really awful. I've managed to recover *some* of the new region files (from the corrupted forge-side backup), I think all the nether/end, and the level.dat, but no playerdata. Kind of annoyed at myself for misconfiguring the backup thing... anyway, if anyone has suggestions for getting more data out, or wants their own copy of stuff, you can ask, but I'm going to shut it down.
