Xavier Britto

Xavier Britto is an entrepreneur and chairman of Kerry Indev Logistics, a logistics company, Premier Futsal, an Indian futsal league, and Esthell Group of Hotels, a hotel chain.[2][3][4][5] Britto established Indev Air Freight Station in 2015, India's first private air freight station, to facilitate air cargo transportation.[6] He made his debut as a film producer with Master (2020).[7]

Career

Business career

He began his career as a professor at Loyola College and has become the chairman of Indev Group.[8] In 2015, Britto launched Indev Air Freight Station in Chennai to facilitate the transport of cargo.[9][10] The station opened on 1 August of that year and the facility helps manage the cargo load at the Chennai International Airport.[6][11] In 2016, he became a chairman of Kerry Indev Logistics after Kerry Logistics Network Limited bought his company, Indev Group.[12][13][14] Britto has invested in Howdydo, an application about sports events.[15][16] In 2019, he sponsored a complex adjacent to St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School in Madurai.[17] That same year, he was presented an honarary degree by Venkaiah Naidu for his contribution to education.[18] Britto has since founded a school, St. Britto’s Higher Secondary School, and a college, St. Britto’s College of Logistics.[19][20]

Cinematic career

Britto began assisting his cousin, Vijay, in several films of the latter's early career namely Sendhoorapandi (1993), Rasigan (1994), and Deva (1995). All three films were directed by his uncle, S. A. Chandrasekhar and written by his sister-in-law Shoba.[21] He turned producer with the Tamil-language soap opera, Neethane Enthan Ponvasantham, which aired on Zee Tamil in 2020.[22] He is also producing Master, which marks his debut as a film producer and his fourth colloboration with Vijay.[7]

Personal life

His daughter, Sneha Britto, directed the film Sattam Oru Iruttarai (2012). The film is a remake of S. A. Chandrasekhar's film of the same name.[23]
