According to Alexa.com, the site is one of the 420 most visited websites in the world. According to West Vancouver Memorial Library, "WordReference has long been the Holy Grail of free online language dictionaries."
Many users severely criticize the rules imposed on forums by the creator and administrator of WordReference, Michael Kellog. These rules do not give the possibility to delete an account from the site, claiming that: "Most people who ask that their questions be deleted do so because they cheated on their homework and they do not want to be taken" (point number 5 of these rules).
