History
WinZO was co-founded by Paavan Nanda, an IIM Calcutta alumnus who also co-founded ZO Rooms & Zostel, and Saumya Singh Rathore who was earlier with The Times Group.[2]
In July 2019, WinZO Games announced that it has raised $5 Million in Series A funding led by Kalaari Capital and Hike.[3]
WinZO currently has 10 million user base across India.[4] WinZO has also set-up a fund of $1.5 Million to support Game Developers in India.[5] [6]
WinZO announced the launch of Game Developers Console in January, 2020 where Gaming Studios and Independent Game Developers across the globe can launch their games on the platform.[7]
In March, 2020, WinZO announced strategic partnership with Tencent Games India to host PUBG Mobile Esports in local languages in India. [8]
Game Formats
WinZO is a platform for users to play skill-games in multiple formats and win cash prizes in return.
WinZO Baazi
WinZO Baazi is a format where users choose a game and can join a group of participants. Users can compete with each other in real time and winner is announced on basis the highest scorer.
24*7 Tournaments
In tournaments, users need to enter tournament only once and can play games multiple times. For the winner announcements, only the best score of each user is counted.
1-vs-1 Matches
In this format, two players play their selected games against each other. Player, who scores the maximum between two players, is announced winner at the end of game.
Fantasy Sports
In Fantasy Sports, WinZO provides a platform for its users to create a virtual team of upcoming sports events. Points are allocated to the virtual teams based on the real life performance of the players. At the end of the event, users are rewarded basis the ranking of their teams.
