Westsamländisch

Westsamländisch is a part of Low Prussian, belonging to Low German. It is from East Prussia. [1] It is or used to be spoken West of Kaliningrad. [2] Westsamländisch has or used to have a border with Ostsamländisch. [3]

It has, in contrast to the remainder of Samländisch for (I) go, (I) stand etc. jon, schton etc..[4] O before R is spoken with a long vowel. [5] It has ick sint meaning I am and tije for ten. [6] During the latter age of the Teutonic order, Latvian-Curonian fishermen came to nowadays Pionerski, Primorye, Kaliningrad Oblast and Filino (Kaliningrad Oblast). [7] Westsamländisch is used as a term in German for long, but it has few speakers.
