West Campus High School

West Campus High School is a public college preparatory magnet high school in Sacramento, California.[5] The school serves 800 students in grades 9–12 in the Sacramento City Unified School District. Prior to the 2002–2003 academic year, West Campus was a satellite high school of the nearby Hiram W. Johnson High School and used the name Hiram Johnson West Campus.

Clubs

West Campus has more than forty clubs and organizations. Among these are Spikeball Club, Video Production Club, Debate Club, Black Student Union, Key Club, Good Vibes Club, Feminist Coalition, Interact, Chinese Culture Club, LGBT+ Club, Korean Club, Mathletes, and many others.[6]

Class colors

Each class has a color that they use during rallies. The freshman class color at West Campus is traditionally yellow. As the freshman class goes on to its sophomore year, it takes on the color of the senior class that graduated the previous year. The other three colors used by classes include green, red, and blue. Currently, the class of 2022 has the color blue, the class of 2021 has the color red, and the class of 2020 has the color green.

Sports

Current sports at West Campus include cheer, golf, soccer, basketball, cross country, track, baseball, softball, volleyball, wrestling, swim, and tennis. West Campus has four soccer teams, four basketball teams, two baseball teams, two softball teams, and several volleyball teams. [7]

Music

The West Campus music department consists of a music appreciation program, a marching band, a drumline, and a color guard. These groups are affiliated with the Northern California Band Association.

Awards

West Campus has an Academic Performance Index score of 902 and a state ranking of 83.[8] In 2007, West Campus High School shared the California Distinguished School Award with a few hundred other schools.[9]
