Racism

During a baseball game between Waverly-Shell Rock High and Charles City High School on June 29th, 2020, individuals from Waverly-Shell Rock High were heard insulting an African-American teenager on the opposing team with overtly and unapologetic racist taunts. [3] Some of these comments are quoted as such: "You should have been George Floyd" and "Get back to the fields." [4] Upon reproach for their behavior by the player, the Waverly-Shell Rock High participants began chanting "TRUMP 2020" in response. [5] At the time of this posting, no disciplinary action has been made available regarding the individuals involved. [6]

In an interview with KWAY Radio uploaded on July 3, 2020, Waverly-Shell Rock High baseball coach Casey Klunder continued to perpetuate these racist acts stating "That's been the most disappointing thing through this process - to have our players in uniform called racists and things of that nature...", indicating that the effect of being called out for being part of a racist community is somehow more disappointing to him than the actual racism suffered by the Charles City High School Player [7]

gollark: The osmarksßsmartwatch would have an always-on display of course.
gollark: Mysterious. I wonder how they manage *that*. Does it just not run the display unless you wake it up or something?
gollark: I see.
gollark: I have a Casio nonsmart watch, it's just nonsmart.
gollark: Bowling watches?
