Voyage fluvial du Tieté à l'Amazone

Voyage fluvial du Tieté à l'Amazone, fully known as the Voyage fluvial du Tieté à l'Amazone par les provinces brésiliennes de St. Paul, Matto Grosso et Gran-Pará, is a book written by Hércules Florence (1804-1879). The work deals with the Langsdorff Expedition, which led by Georg Heinrich von Langsdorff (1774-1852) through São Paulo, Mato Grosso and Grão-Pará. The expedition took place from 1825 to 1829; Florence was valued for his skills both as an artist and a cartographer. His work depicts the indigenous peoples, nature, settlements, and buildings of the interior of Brazil. The Voyage fluvial describes both the natural history of the interior of Brazil and its penetration by European settlers. The title first appeared in Portuguese translation in 1875 in the Revista do Instituto Histórico e Geográfico of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, in the same periodical in French in 1907, and subsequently in numerous Portuguese-language editions.[1][2]
