Vladislav Solovyov

Vladislav Alexandrovich Soloviev (also Vladislav Alexandrovich Solovyov, Russian: Владислав Александрович Соловьёв, born 14 May 1973 in Moscow)[1] is a Russian industrial businessman who previously held top-management positions in Rusal amd En+ Group.

Early life and education

He was born on 14 May 1973 to the family of engineers. As a child he was fond of sports (he did running, took judo classes for 7 years and practiced karate), literature clubs and participated in the school drama activities. In high school, he was a member of the construction brigades and as for the extra-curriculum activities he played the guitar. He says that being a child he dreamt of becoming an ice-cream vendor, but later he was determined to become a “hero”[1].

In 1995, he graduated with honors from the High Management School of the State Management Academy (his major was Financial Management). A year later, he graduated from the Moscow State Technical University STANKIN as construction engineer. In 2004 he graduated from the Finance Academy under the Government of the Russian Federation[2] and got his MBA from the University of Antwerp[3].

Career

Russkiy alyuminiy (Russian Aluminium)

In the years 1994–1998, he worked in Unicon/MS Consulting company where he held different managerial positions and was responsible for the oil and gas companies audit. In the years 1998–2000, he was the Deputy Head in Tax Policy and Tax Legislation Improvement Department of the Russian Ministry of Taxes and Duties (the predecessor of the Federal Tax Service) and the minister's advisor. In 2000, he became the Head of Accountancy in “Russkiy alyuminiy” company (after merging in 2007 it was rebranded as Rusal). He served as the company’s financial director in 2001–2008, and became the CEO’s financial deputy in Rusal - Management company in 2003–2007. In 2007, he became the Financial director of Rusal and was appointed the member of the Board of Directors[3][2].

Rusal and En+ Group

In the years 2008–2010 Mr. Soloviev held the post of the En+ Group CEO, which was part of the Basovy Element holding and belonged to Oleg Deripaska. He was also the deputy President of the Board of Directors[2]. In 2009 he was elected the Russneft Board of Directors President, after the company became the part of Deripaska's enterprise structure in 2007 following the arrest of its previous owner, Mikhail Gutseriev (in 2010 Gutseriev returned the ownership and Soloviev resigned from Russneft post)[3].

In 2010, Mr. Soloviev got the post of the First Deputy of CEO and entered the Board of Directors, being responsible for the operational management[4]. Until 2011, he was the member of enterprise Reward Committee, Corporative Management Committee and Appointment Committee. He became the General Director of the enterprise on 17 November 2014[5] and its President on 23 February 2018[3]. He became the member of the Norilsky Nickel Board of Directors in 2013[2]. During his work in Rusal, one of the company’s jewels in the crown, KrAZ, underwent the modernisation in 2005–2009[1]. Since 23 February till 30 April 2018 he held the posts of CEO and the General Director of En+ Group. However, he left the post because of the international sanctions (ditto for his resignation from Rusal’s Board of Directors[6]) but kept his work in Rusal[7].

Personal life

Soloviev is married. In his spare time he enjoys reading books on economics, written by both classic and modern scientists, and Russian classical literature. His main hobby is alpine skiing. He is also interested in the latest scientific achievements related to the physics and the astronomy[1].

As a part of his job Mr. Soloviev travels a lot. One of his first business trip was to Achinsk. Later he visited Nizhnevartovsk, Noyabrsk, Krasnoyarsk and Saint-Petersburg. He had several trips to Baikal and Kamchatka and travelled abroad a lot[1].
