Vladimir Iosifovich Kondrashov

Vladimir Iosifovich Kondrashov (Владимир Иосифович Кондрашов, 1909-1971) was a Russian mathematician most well known for proving the Rellich–Kondrachov theorem that shows that the embedding of certain Sobolev spaces into Lp spaces is compact. His name has also been transliterated as V.I. Kondrachoff, W. Kondrachov, or V.I. Kondrašov.[1]

Life

Kondrashow was born on 2 February [O.S. 20 January] 1909 in Moscow.[2] He graduated with a PhD from Moscow State University under the supervision of Sergei Sobolev in 1941. As a postdoc at Steklov Institute, where he obtained a DSc in 1950, he organised the Moscow Seminar on the Theory of Functions of Several Variables.[3][4] For the final 20 years of his life until his death on 26 February 1971, he worked at the Moscow Engineering and Physics Institute.[2]

gollark: > multiprocessing.pool objects have internal resources that need to be properly managed (like any other resource) by using the pool as a context manager or by calling close() and terminate() manually. Failure to do this can lead to the process hanging on finalization.> Note that is not correct to rely on the garbage colletor to destroy the pool as CPython does not assure that the finalizer of the pool will be called (see object.__del__() for more information).Great abstraction there, Python. Really great.
gollark: No, I mean I was reading from underneath the line it highlighted, which was the POST documentation.
gollark: Oh, never mind, the link was just being confusing.
gollark: Why is there a body argument for *GET* requests?
gollark: Never mind, I figured it out by looking at one of my other programs.
