ViXS Systems was a global fabless semiconductor company founded by Sally J. Daub, Hugh Chow and Indra Laksono in 2001, and based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The company specialized in advanced video processing technologies for Consumer Electronics, Pay TV, Infrastructure and Managed IP markets. They were a member-contributor of the Multimedia over Coax Alliance. In 2017, they were acquired by Pixelworks for $20 million.[3]

ViXS HQ in Toronto

ViXS hardware can be found in consumer electronics including Ethernet over coax, Pay TV products, Set-top box , streaming boxes, Ultra HD TVs, SCSA devices, Ultra HD Blu-ray, and headless/headed gateways as provided to OEMs and ODMs. Customers include Sharp Corporation, Slingbox, Toshiba, Cisco and Panasonic.

The company has also developed video codecs with capabilities for processing, managing, protecting and distributing broadcast-quality video.

To date, ViXS has issued and filed over 516 patents and shipped over 33 million chips.[4]
