Virginia's 9th House of Delegates district

Virginia's 9th House of Delegates district is one of 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the state's bicameral legislature. District 9 consists of Franklin County, Patrick County, and Henry County. It has been represented by Charles Poindexter since 2008.[1]

In 2017, Poindexter won the Republican nomination against a primary challenge from Justin Washer.[2] In the November 2017 general election, he faced Democrat Stephanie Cook, a substitute teacher for Franklin County Public Schools.[3][4] This is the first time the seat has been challenged since 2011.[5]
