Vest buster

A vest buster is a handgun cartridge capable of fully penetrating commonly used soft body armor.[1]

While several handguns and cartridges could be considered vest busters, two popular examples are the FN Five-seven[1] firing the FN 5.7×28mm[2][3] and the Smith & Wesson Model 500 firing the .500 S&W Magnum.[4]

These are also known as armor piercing handguns, and intended to penetrate most soft armor in existence. Their ability to penetrate can vary however.
