Veritas Genetics

Veritas Genetics is a personal genomics startup based in Danvers, Massachusetts.[1] It was co-founded in 2014 by George M. Church, Mirza Cifric, Preston Estep, and Jonathan Zhao.[2] Its flagship product, myGenome, aims to provide consumers with information about their genetic risk for disease and allergic reactions based on whole-genome sequencing results. It initially debuted for $999, the first clinical-grade whole genome sequence and interpretation to break the $1000 price barrier.[1][3][4] In the fall of 2018, the company lowered prices to $199 for either the first 1,000 customers to buy one of their kits or for the first two days of the discount. Veritas co-founder and CEO Mirza Cifric said that, by slashing prices dramatically, "We’re sending a clear signal to the medical research community that the $99 genome will be here in three to five years."[5] After this sale ended, the price of myGenome was lowered to $599 in 2019.[6] It was named one of the CNBC Disruptor 50 in 2018[1] and 2019.[7]
