Vera Berdich

Vera Berdich (1915 in Cicero, Illinois – October 12, 2003 in Chicago) was an American printmaker.[1]

Life

Berdich worked for the Works Progress Administration at Hull House[2] She graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a B.A. in 1946 and taught etching there from 1947 to 1979.[3] She was an influence on the Chicago Imagists group.[4]

Berdich's papers are held at the Archives of American Art.[5] She was known under the names Veronica Berdich, Veronika Berdich and Veronica Berdick too.[6][2]

Collections

Berdich's works are held in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum,[7] the Seattle Art Museum,[8] the Library of Congress,[9] Smithsonian Institution,[6] Museum of Modern Art,[10] and the Art Institute of Chicago.[11]
