Vendetta (Celesty album)
Vendetta is the fourth full-length album by the Finnish power metal band Celesty. It was released on March 18, 2009 via Spinefarm.[3] Unlike Celesty's previous effort, Mortal Mind Creation, where the band experimented with its sound, incorporating technical and progressive elements, Vendetta is more traditional stylistically, while partially retaining the dark atmosphere of its predecessor.[4][5][6] At the same time, the band concentrated on making its sound more epic, which was achieved by collaborating with the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra and a professional choir in the recording of the album.[3]

Production
The band entered the Fantom Studios in Seinäjoki in July 2008; Samu Oittinen, who has collaborated with the band on two of its previous albums, was responsible for recording and mixing. Kalevi Olli, a Finnish conductor, known for his work with the Finnish National Opera, was responsible for arrangement and production of the orchestration and choir parts. Mixing the album proved to be a challenging task with up to 300 tracks playing at times.[3]
One single from the album, "Fading Away", has been released. The song was complemented by the band's first music video, which was shot at an abandoned quarry near Ylöjärvi.[7]
Music style
Like its predecessors, Vendetta is a concept album, revealing a story of the imaginary land of Cryon; it is a final chapter of the three-album-long saga.[8] However, heavy reliance on the symphonic elements is what distinguishes the album from the band's previous efforts. Band members and critics describe the sound as 'epic' and 'bombastic', drawing comparison to such bands as Sonata Arctica, Rhapsody of Fire and Manowar.[9][10][11] Considered by the band to be its best album up to date, Vendetta is likewise praised by the critics.[6][12]
