Geography

This island is still largely uninhabited, unlike its neighbour, the densely populated Migingo Island.[1] The island is home to goats and white herons that live like cimarrones. Only one family lives on the island in recent periods due to the overpopulation of the neighboring island of Migingo and the lack of space for agriculture and livestock, the island of Usingo like its southern neighbor Pyramid Island, is still largely uninhabited, full of weeds and birds that form the fauna and flora of the region, the introduction of the Nile perch led to the extinction of most of the fish in Lake Victoria and the arrival of water hyacinth made the level of algae in the lake increase.
