gollark: Ah, but C is lower level and probably more work in general.
gollark: PHP is an exciting mishmash of thin wrappers for C libraries, horribly named general utilities, "good" "OOP" tacked on later, and random things someone once used.
gollark: The actual C socket API has basically that interface, if I remember my accursed dealings with it right.
