The company appeared in 2004 when two companies Dniprohydroenerho and Dnisterhydroenerho that had existed since 1994 were merged.

The company administers most of the major power plants, but there are some smaller power plants such as in Yuzhnoukrainsk that are administered by other entities. Beside the following list, in Ukraine there are several smaller power plants which are referenced as small hydro power plants for disambiguation purposes.

gollark: Have you heard of interval arithmetic? You do things with the regions you know a value to lie in.
gollark: I see.
gollark: You especially can't solve it since it isn't an equation.
gollark: It has multiple variables. You can't solve it alone.
gollark: What do you mean "solve that polynomial" though?!
