USS Oakland
Two ships of the United States Navy have borne the name Oakland, in honor of the city of Oakland, California.
- The first, USS Oakland (ID-2847), built in 1918, was a steamship originally built for British owners. She was pressed into USN service for service during World War I. She was decommissioned after short service.
- The second, USS Oakland (CL-95), was an Atlanta-class cruiser commissioned in 1943 and served during World War II and decommissioned in 1949
- USS Oakland (LCS-24) is a planned Independence-class littoral combat ship.
Fictional ships
- A fictional Los Angeles-class submarine USS Oakland (SSN-798) makes an appearance in the 1996 film Steel Sharks.[1]

gollark: I can't actually buy 10 trillion multi-terabyte hard disks and ship them to every user, you see.
gollark: I have enough storage capacity available to hold maybe 1e13 bits at home.
gollark: Even if I'm off by 6 OOM, 3.7e26 bits is *not tractable*.
