The village is part of the Nedelišće municipality. It is located around 11 kilometres from the centre of Čakovec, the county seat of Međimurje County, with a portion of the Drava flowing through nearby. Trnovec is also located near the Croatian-Slovenian border, and there is a border checkpoint just outside the village. The population of the village in the 2011 census was 390.[1]
